Hygeia Foundation, Inc.
The purpose of this organization is to use and make universally available 'new technologies' to assuage the hurt, grieving and sorrow which accompany the loss of a pregnancy or newborn child and to alleviate the angst which accompanies the parenting and caring for critically ill neonates.

The Compassionate Friends, Inc.:
This is a national, nonprofit, self-help support organization that offers friendship, understanding, and support to families who are grieving the death of a child of any age, from any cause. Its primary purpose is to assist in the positive resolution of grief and to fost physical, mental, and emotional health. A second purpose is to provide information and education on familial grief to the community. TCF has no religious affiliation It is non-sectarian and multicultural.

Pen-Parents
An international non-profit support network for bereaved parents. They match bereaved parents by the types of losses they have had or other special circumstances (i.e. single parents) so they can write to each other via "snail mail" for mutual support and encouragement. They work with any type of loss and any age child from miscarriage to the death of an adult child.

American Association of Pastoral Counselors:
Pastoral counseling is a unique form of counseling which uses spiritual resources as well as psychological understanding for healing and growth. It is provided by certified pastoral counselors, who are not only mental health professionals but who have also had in-depth religious and/or theological training.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Information Web Site:
This site is the growing collaborative effort of individuals from across the United States and around the world. This sites offers up-to-date information as well as support for those who have been touched by the tragedy of SIDS/OID.

Helping Parents Cope With a High-Risk Birth: Terror, Grief, Impotence and Anger:
Michael Hynan conducts research on stress reactions in parents that have had their premature (or full-term high-risk) infant hospitalized in the NICU. His website text of several talks he has given on coping with high risk birth and the NICU. You will also enjoy his poignant and humorous photographs on this subject.

Children's Hospice International:
CHI, a nonprofit agency founded in 1983, provides a network of support and care for children with life-threatening conditions and their families. The hospice approach is a team effort providing medical, psychological, social, and spiritual expertise and information. It recognizes the right and need for children and their families to choose healthcare and support—whether in their own home, a hospital, or a hospice care facility.

The Dougy Center:
The Dougy Center, The National Center for Grieving Children and Families, is one of the pioneers in the field of children and grief. Over 100 programs modeled on The Dougy Center have developed through the Center's training program, reaching beyond the US into Canada and Japan, Ireland and Australia.

Coalition for Prematurity Awareness:
The Coalition is a division of The Alexis Foundation for Premature Infants and Children, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist parents, healthcare professionals and the public in providing the best possible care for premature infants and children.

A place created for parents and loved ones of premature infants, and women experiencing a high risk or complicated pregnancy.

Small Wonders: A Preemie-Place: Provides an information on growth and feeding issues in premature babies. Her website includes information on feeding disorders, behavioral aspects of eating, and feeding tips. Her son, Conner, weighed one pound 3 ounces at birth and they gained a lot of experience related to feeding and growth issues which she passes on to other preemie parents.

Coping with Premature Birth: An Emotional Journey:
The experience of having a preemie (or multiple preemies) is overwhelming and life transforming. Mara Tesler Stein, Psy.D, a Clinical Psychologist and mother to premature twins, provides a number of articles for parents on the emotional journey of prematurity.

Neonatologist Dr. Doug Derleth's Premature Baby Information:

Amy Tracy, the co-author of "Your Premature Baby and Child," provides a reading room for parents of children born premature.

Kangaroo Care: For Our Little Miracles:
Krisanne provides inspiration for parents who wish to provide Kangaroo Care of their premature babies in the NICU. For Kangaroo Care, the premature baby is placed on the parent's chest, clad only in a diaper and cap; if needed, vent tubing and wires are taped to the parent's gown. This site's photographs, parent quotes, article links, and booklet on this special handling technique provide encouragement to parents around the world.
